Forget mimosas! Espresso martinis are the perfect brunch drink, and it’s simple to make with only three ingredients.
This martini uses vodka, espresso, and kahlua. The better the ingredients you use, the better the martini will be.
A lot of recipes will call for half an ounce of Kahlua and half an ounce of simple syrup to sweeten it, but it’s just not as good–use Kahlua for the entire ounce.
You’ll need to brew some espresso before making the martini. Be sure your espresso is fresh brewed, and don’t use instant espresso! We grind our espresso beans before brewing it for the best flavor.
Once you brew your espresso, let it cool down to room temperature or chill before adding it to the shaker. If you add espresso hot out of the machine, it will melt the ice and dilute the martini with water.
Since this drink is made with a shot of espresso, be sure to keep the caffeine in mind. That’s why at our house, we drink this martini earlier in the day.
