Classic Gin Martini Recipe

Over the past month, I’ve shared with you a couple different variations of the classic martini, including the James Bond Vesper Martini and a Dirty Vodka Martini. Now it’s time for the original–the classic gin martini.

A gin martini is a simple drink that requires just two ingredients–gin and dry vermouth–plus a garnish. Since it’s such a liquor-forward drink, it’s very important to use a quality gin for this. I recommend Tanqueray.

A lemon twist is the most traditional way of making a martini, but if you prefer yours dirty, you can garnish with one or three olives along with your splash of olive brine. (But remember, don’t use three!)

And remember, despite James Bond’s advice, be sure to stir, don’t shake! Enjoy!
