I love a good margarita, but years ago, I found that the mixes that most bars use to make batches of them made me feel sick and flush bright red. So, Buddy learned how to make a good margarita on the rocks for me, and now it’s the only way I drink them!
A margarita on the rocks is made with silver tequila, cointreau, and half a lime–plus salt to rim your glass, and ice, of course. Simply shake the ingredients together in a shaker, then pour into a salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a wedge of lime, and that’s it! Remember, as with all cocktails, the quality of the ingredients makes all the difference.
If you prefer your margarita frozen, you don’t actually need a special mixer that stores try to sell you. To make a frozen margarita, simply blend the recipe and ice with a couple of tablespoons of agave or simple syrup instead of serving over the rocks.

Who invented the margarita?
As with many cocktails, the origin of the margarita is up for debate. There are at least seven different origin stories for the drink. One of the more likely ones is that hotel manager Danny Negrete created the drink for his girlfriend, Margarita, who liked salt in her drinks. However the drink came to be, cheers to Margarita!
