bottle of 7 Creeks Vineyard tinta amarela with two wine glasses of red wine

Wine Review: Tinta Amarela

Tinta Amarela is an interesting grape. I’ve just recently become acquainted with it when 7 Creeks Vineyard bottled a wine from it and put it on their wine menu.

It is a grape that is commonly used in production of Port wines and other Portuguese red wines. The grape is also called Trincadeira and is widely used in the Douro region of Portugal. The Tinta Amarela grape imparts dark hues, making the wine rich in color.

7 Creek Vineyard’s Tinta Amarela is a full bodied wine that is bold and smooth with a dark color and dark berry flavors. The wine is jammy with notes of blackberry and just a hint of chocolate. It pairs well with lamb or citrus glazed pork. I just enjoyed a bottle watching the sunset in the Texas hill country.

Be sure to try a glass or bottle of this bold and smooth tinta amarela the next time you are at 7 Creeks Vineyard.
