Nestled in the beautiful Texas hill country, Torr Na Lochs Winery on the Burnet Wine Trail has the most astounding views.
Whether you sit inside their tasting room or on their extensive outdoor patio overlooking the valley, you’ll be treated to glorious views of the hills and the sparkling Inks and Buchanan Lakes and Colorado River. On occasion you may see a longhorn steer or two plodding through the valley.
In fact, the view is where the winery gets its name from–Torr Na Lochs is Gaelic that loosely translates to “Hill Over Lakes.”
About Torr Na Lochs Winery
Blake and Karen DeBerry purchased their large ranch that would one day become Torr Na Lochs while they were living in Scotland. However, they didn’t dream of starting a winery until they took wine tours in Australia and were reminded of their ranch in Texas.
In April of 2014, they planted their first 3 acres of vines and eventually opened the winery in 2015. All wines at Torr Na Lochs are made with all Texas grown grapes.
Wines & Wine Tasting
Torr Na Lochs Winery has won numerous awards for their wines and are listed as one of the 10 best things to do in Burnet, Texas.
The winery offers one wine tasting that samples a variety of their white and red wines. However, I asked if they could do an all-red wine tasting for me, and they were able to accommodate since they already had the bottles open.
They also offer a nice variety of food items that pairs nicely with their wines–paninis, seasonal salads, and charcuterie to name a few. There’s also a wonderful gelato that is made locally in Blanco, Texas offered. I didn’t get a chance to try it on my last visit, but it’s at the top of my list for the next time I go to Torr Na Lochs!
There is one thing that you certainly need to order if you are a chocolate lover. It is the pecan english toffee. It is made locally by Choccolatte’s in Marble falls and is offered in both milk or dark chocolate.
If you decide to join their wine club, they offer a rental only available to members in hour and half slots. It is located on the highest point on the property and accommodates up to 12.
